Autonomous vehicles in the port - using simulation to manage interaction
On a planning table, Fraunhofer CML shows a simulation model for the visualization of traffic in the port and on terminals. Starting point is the consideration, that conventionally controlled and autonomously driving vehicles will share traffic areas in the future.
In principle, autonomous vehicles are expected to drive more efficiently, but there may also be situations that conventionally controlled vehicles handle better. With the help of simulation software, traffic flow simulation can be observed live on CML's planning tables.
