Project presentation
Background
The task of OR coordination is to create a time- and cost-efficient daily schedule. To do this, as many pre- and post-operative activities as possible are moved from the operating theater to adjacent rooms. This leads to a very complex planning task. In addition, while working on patients, there is a constant need to react to incoming emergencies, delays or short-term absences. Until now, OR planning has been a tedious, iterative and manual planning task. Although there is some digital support for this, planning still has to be done manually. This often leads to suboptimal utilization of the operating theatres.
Objectives
SCEDAS® makes the work of OR coordinators considerably easier and frees up valuable time for actual medical activities. The software also increases employee satisfaction through greater planning reliability and less overtime. The software also ensures optimal use of operating theatre resources by efficiently allocating costly time in operating theatres and identifying free capacity for new operations at an early stage. This saves unnecessary costs and waiting times. Finally, SCEDAS® improves the ability to respond to clinical emergencies.
SCEDAS® determines the optimal use of rooms, an appropriate distribution of medical equipment and a stable distribution of OR personnel. OR planning is adjusted at the touch of a button in the event of incoming emergencies and delays. The proven planning algorithms take into account the specific characteristics of OR coordination and are tailored to the internal conditions of the respective hospital. They have already proven their worth for personnel planning in various areas of the shipping industry.
